Capital Campaigns

Our approach to Capital Campaigns involves our entire firm. Each campaign is supervised by a principal of the firm, and day-to-day direction is provided by an experienced Campaign Director.
Market Development Group, Inc. (MDG) Capital Campaign Directors are experienced fundraising professionals.
Their responsibilities include:

- Designing and implementing a comprehensive and integrated capital campaign plan that utilizes every asset of our firm, including Direct Mail, Prospect Research, Grant Writing, and expertise in Capital Campaign Direction
- Solicitation of prospects and coordination of solicitations with volunteers
- Maintaining strategic oversight of the entire campaign
- Directing exploration of campaign prospects
- Managing and coordinating all direct mail and grant writing utilized as part of the overall strategy for the capital campaign
- Devising solicitation strategies for the campaign as a whole, and for top campaign prospects
- Developing campaign literature for campaign introduction and cultivation
- Recruiting, training, motivating, updating and directing campaign volunteers, especially key campaign leadership
- Scheduling regular campaign meetings for volunteers and leadership
- Coordinating special donor-cultivation events
- Supervising gift recording, acknowledgement, stewardship, and pledge reminders
- Preparing monthly, written campaign progress reports
- Monitoring campaign expenditures to stay within budget
- Submitting a final report and continuation manual
- Regular follow-up after the successful conclusion of the campaign
MDG charges a flat fee for Capital Campaign Direction. The fee is based on the length of the campaign, the number of MDG staff committed, and whether the staff involved are full-time on-site, or working in an off-site consultative capacity with regular site visits.
Capital Campaigns: Prospect Research & Grant Writing
Market Development Group, Inc. (MDG) offers comprehensive research services, including profiles on individuals, corporations and foundations, database and individual prospect screening, and prospect identification. Our research staff utilizes on-line database and news services, CD-ROMs, the Internet, and electronic and print resources.
MDG, in partnership with some of the countrys leading data and prospect screening companies, offers state-of-the-art database screening and prospect identification services, as well as proactive tracking of major prospects.
MDG offers professional grant-writing services as part of its Capital Campaign package, or as a separate service.
Our experienced grant writers work with you to:
- Identify your needs
- Define the project needing support
- Identify funding sources
- Determine how the project best fits funding guidelines
- Coordinate grant-writing efforts with the campaign solicitation strategies of the Capital Campaign staff
- Organize and prepare the grant proposal
- Complete grant applications
- Recommend stewardship procedures
MDG staff are members of AFP-MD (The Association of Fundraising Executives, Maryland Chapter, formerly NSFRE-MD), and APRA (The Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement). Key members of our staff serve on the Board of Directors of both of these professional organizations.
